What We Do

Atlantic Rheumatology and Osteoporosis Associates is a specialty practice where our physicians are trained to evaluate, diagnose and treat a variety of medical conditions including but not limited to: rheumatoid arthritis, spondyloarthritis, osteoarthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, Sjogren's syndrome, scleroderma, polymyositis, vasculitis, polymyalgia rheumatic, fibromyalgia, Lyme disease, and osteoporosis. We provide full laboratory services, bone densitometry as well as physician supervised full infusion services for biological treatment of inflammatory arthritis, lupus and vasculitis, and osteoporosis.

Infusion Services

Our infusion service offers our patients the comfort and privacy which you may have not previously experienced in a hospital setting. Atlantic Rheumatology and Osteoporosis Associates offers no wait time, which means your treatment time is not as long as you may have experienced at the hospital. Our comfortable recliners, casual setting, and kind and compassionate staff allow your treatment to be a pleasant experience.

Rather than taking an entire day off from work, our office can schedule your appointment in the morning which would allow you to be back at the office by the afternoon. Infusion trained nurses are by your side the entire treatment and our doctors are always on site. Parking is never an issue and allows immediate convenience.

If you wish, contact Atlantic Rheumatology and Osteoporosis Associates directly and we will be more than happy to allow you to visit the Infusion Suite to ease any concerns you may have.

Bone Densitometry Scan

Also known as DEXA or bone density scan, DEXA stands for "Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry". It is the most commonly used test for measuring bone mineral density. It is one of the most accurate ways to diagnosis osteopenia and osteoporosis. This test is so accurate that your follow up DEXA scan can be used to monitor your treatment to learn if your plan is working.

At Atlantic Rheumatology and Osteoporosis Associates we have the most up to date, state of the art bone densitometry machine operated by a highly-capable, certified X-ray technician with over 10 years of experience performing this test.

This testing is available for patients seen by our physicians and can also be performed at the request of a patient's primary care physician.
